Overnight Oats

Overnight Oats is a healthy and delicious no-cook dish that serves as a perfect make-ahead breakfast, especially for Summers . It is made by soaking oats and chia seeds in milk or coconut water overnight. When ready to serve, just top it with chopped fruits, berries and nuts of your choice and you are sorted. Overnight oats makes for a nutritious and filling breakfast, perfect for those busy mornings. With a simple recipe this creamy, pudding like dish can also be served as a dessert or a mid-day snack. I have used gluten-free rolled oats in this recipe, but quick cooking oats can also be used.

The recipe can be customized as apart from oats all the other ingredients can be used as per choice. Both quick cooking or rolled oats can be used, here i have used gluten-free rolled oats. Quick cooking oats require less time for soaking. Jaggery powder, sugar, maple syrup or honey can be used in this recipe or the addition of sweetener can be skipped altogether. I have used fruits like strawberries, mangoes and bananas which are readily available in this season. You may use any fruit of your choice. If you do not have chia seeds, you may use sabja seeds or skip addition of seeds completely. I have used walnuts, pistachio and almonds here, you may add any nuts or even raisins. Vegans may add plain water or coconut water in place of milk or may use any plant based milk for soaking the oats. Overnight oats tastes great when served chilled and thus makes a perfect breakfast treat during Summers.

Taking this healthy and delicious overnight oats to the #195th #FoodieMondayBlogHop where the theme for the week is Third Letter Magic. This lovely theme was suggested by Amrita Iyer. As per the theme, we had to cook a dish starting with the third letter of our names. As "O" is the third letter of my name , i chose this overnight oats for the challenge, in which both the main ingredient and the dish name starts with letter O.

  6. Such a colorful breakfast, can brighten up anyone's day. I prefer using rolled oats as quick cooking oats when soaked overnight become too mushy.
