Banana Chocolate Smoothie Bowl

Banana Chocolate Smoothie Bowl, a rich and creamy sugar-free dessert is a perfect way to start your day. This chocolaty no-cook treat packed with super-food is protein rich , vegan, gluten-free and takes just 5 minutes to whip up. With healthy goodness of homemade peanut butter, unsweetened cocoa and almond milk this smoothie is delicious and can be topped with fruits and nuts of your choice. I have used banana slices, chia seeds, walnuts, pistachio and pomegranate arils as toppings. Serve it as a filling breakfast , a mid-day snack or an after-school treat.

To have a healthy, flawless and glowing skin 24/7 is a dream of every girl. But pollution, stress, digestive problems, junk food, processed and high-sugar diets result in blemishes and skin impurities. Use of chemicals on the skin for concealing it only worsens the case. Healthy detox diet along with  exercise and sound sleep is a right way to tackle this problem. As we all know, health comes from within and taking right amount of micro-nutrients and vitamins is the key to clear skin. Intake of fresh fruits, seasonal vegetables, nuts, antioxidant and protein rich food will leave you with spotless, clear skin.

#GlowingSkinRecipes is the #185 theme on #FoodieMondayBlogHop. The theme was suggested by Amrita who blogs at The Food Samaritan. This healthy and delicious banana chocolate smoothie bowl is my contribution towards the theme. I often make such fuss free smoothie for my breakfast when i am pressed for time. I have added homemade peanut butter in this recipe.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Serves: 1 bowl
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 large banana
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon proteinX powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Toppings:
  •  Banana slices
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoon pomegranate seeds
  • 2-3 walnuts chopped
  • Few pistachios slivered
Method:
  1. In a blender add almond milk, banana, cocoa powder, proteinx powder, peanut butter and honey if using . Pulse to get a creamy lump-free smoothie.

2. Transfer the banana chocolate smoothie in a bowl and garnish with your favourite toppings. I have topped the smoothie with banana slices, pomegranate arils, chia seeds, walnuts and pistachio. Serve immediately .

 Recipe Notes:
  • You may use any plant based milk or skimmed low-fat milk to make this smoothie.
  • I have used homemade peanut butter in this recipe. Click here for the recipe.
  • You may add up to 1/2 cup of raw baby spinach as well while blending the smoothie.
  • Any combination of fresh and dry fruits or seeds can be used as toppings to this smoothie bowl.
  • Vegans may skip honey and add dates syrup or keep the smoothie plain without any sweetener.
  • I have used vanilla flavor proteinX powder in this recipe. You may use chocolate flavor too if you wish.
  • Oats powder can be added to the smoothie for a thicker smoothie.
